Privacy Statement

Introduction

Your privacy is important to me. I am not a company, just an individual who will send you updates every now and again so you never miss an opportunity to figure more stuff out.

To do that, I need you to supply some data.

Please read the below carefully and if you are not sure about anything, please just get in touch.

Who am I?

I am not a registered business, just an individual, but nonetheless, I play by data protection rules. FiguringItOut.me is my website and I’m a guy called Jonathan Jones who lives in Partick, Glasgow. You can get in touch via the Contact Form or by emailing me directly at JJ@figuringitout.me.

What information do I collect?

In order to send you updates and newsletter, I ask you to supply the following:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Email Address

I do this via the Subscription and Contact forms that appear on the website.

How do I use personal information?

Well, to keep in touch, obviously ;-) At least until you don’t want to hear from me any more, which you can request directly at any time (using the options in the “Who am I?” section above) or by UNSUBSCRIBING via the link at the bottom of any email I send you.

This contact could be for any of the following reasons:

  • to let you know about latest posts or updates to the website

  • to highlight posts and discussion topics

  • opportunities to tell me what you think about, or want to see on, the website

  • I may carry out a wee poll or survey every now and again too

  • other stuff that is ONLY relevant to the content on FiguringItOut.me

This website is currently structured as follows:

  • Home

  • Take action (Understanding who you are; Overcoming your challenges; Making your personal plan)

  • Subscribe (for your free e-book)

  • Advice & tips

  • Discovering Me store

  • About FIO

  • Contact

It originally went live May 2019, comprising original content, created and published by me, Jonathan Jones, unless otherwise noted.

Please note that I may update the above list as the website develops.

What legal basis do I have for processing your personal data?

When you voluntarily sign up, you are giving me CONSENT to contact you, this is one of six possible legal grounds under GDPR regulations.

When do I share personal data?

I don’t, I only use it to provide the stuff listed in “How do I use personal information?”

Where do I store and process personal data?

I use Google G-Suite, Mailchimp and Squarespace to manage my site and communications, all US companies who provide services to many thousands of businesses in the UK and other countries governed by GDPR regulation.

How do I secure personal data?

As an individual, I rely on these companies to safely store both my own and your data, much like we do when we sign up to any other large website or social media platform.

They have to ensure they look after our data safely, securely and don’t use it inappropriately.

How long do I keep your personal data for?

I will keep your data for as long as you continue to subscribe to FiguringItOut.me. You can ask me to remove your details at ANY time by requesting directly (using the options in the “Who am I?” section above) or by UNSUBSCRIBING via the link at the bottom of any email I send you.

Your rights in relation to personal data

At any time, you can ask me to confirm what data I hold on you, correct or delete it. You can also withdraw your consent, which basically means the same thing as deleting your data, which you can request in the same way. If I ignore you, or abuse your data in any way, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Thanks

JJ
